Hi every one!

oldbar beach-1

I have always had this dream where I could live in a more self sustainable and environmentally friendly way, as the environment is a pretty important part of all our lives! I mean we need somewhere for our future generations to live, and if we, as a human race keep going the way we are going, only consuming, using and destroying, then there won’t be a planet left for them to live on. Well this week I was able to make a really good step forward in that area, I had solar power installed! This is not only going to reduce or maybe even eliminate my power bill, but it’s so much kinder to the environmmnt too! It’s so nice to know that I’m reducing my environmental footprint on this earth. What’s even better is I still have enough space on my roof to be able to put maybe another 6-8 panels up if I need to, so if i’m still getting a bill fo power .. no matter how small, i will add more panels and upgrade the system so that I can live bill free from power. I’m really very luck as my house faces nearly N-S perfectly, it’s only a few degrees off. so that means that I get optimal power from the sun from snrise to sunset! my next step once I’m finished with solar power is to put in rain water tanks and a grey water system so that I’m reducing my water bill and the amount of town water that I use, but also reduceses the amount that goes down the sewer and into our oceans and rivers.Every little bit counts towards helping the environment,  so I intend on doing everything I can

HI everyone

Today i’m going to talk about my massive addiction to crystals lol. I have been collecting for a few years now, well actually since i was a teen. I started out only liking rough/raw pieces and specimins, like clusters etc. But recenty i have come across some amazing pages on FaceBook that sell some amazing carvings, so slowly but surely I have started to grow a fondness for things like cystal skulls, dragons, star beings (alien heads), hearts and more! my collection is an ever growing one, and although i still prefer the more natural ones, I find myself drawn to some of the carvings more and more.

DSCF4086

Today I was so happy to go to the post office and find that i had a huge box waiting for me from a seller on FaceBook called Crystal Utopia (look them up, they have some amazing crystals). Now this box was HUGE! and i mean I haven’t recieved a box from this big yet! it took me over an hour to unwrap all the lovely items I had purchased, and boy do they wrap them well with bubblewrap AND tape! Scizzors are neeed to find the gems within lol. by the time I got to the last item .. there was only ONE thing it could be.. the FREEEEEE DRAGON i was lucky enough to get for paying my order in full withing 48 hours of the sale :D so i begin to unwrap it, thinking to myself , ‘please be a color/stone I don’t already have’ ‘but please do not be pink dolomite‘ I was thinking this beacuse Crystal Utopia also have a chat group where all the Crystal addicts that buy from them can go and chat about crystals between sales, and a few had posted the free dragons they had recieved, I had mostly sen pink dolomite, I’m not keen on pink, lol, let alone as a dragon color. So I’m cutting through the layers of bubble wrap, hoping like hell I would like the dragon I was about to see, then cutting through the next kayer of protection, the anticipation was growing even more. Then I could see him, He was grey, and really big!, I get all the packaging off and there he is smiling at me, singing right into my heart!!! he is the largest I own out of 8 dragons and he is absolutely beautiful!

HI everyone ,

Sorry it has been SOOOOO long since i have posted anything . life got really hectic and out of control for me for a while there..

autism awareness

Having to deal with my eldest boy’s schoolin

has been a big challenge as he is on the Autism spectrum. thankfully though hg issues

he is finally in a school that can support his special needs and is almost through the initial transition period with 3 full days and 2 partial days!!! I’m so proud of how far he is coming along. The choice to give medication a go was something i never thought I would actually do, but when i had run out of all other options to help him better manage some of the behavioral struggles that go along with Autism, I could no longer hear my child crying about wishing they could just be good, so I chose to ive it a go .. and I can in all honesty say that it has been the best choice for him .. he is now able to manage his emotions in a much healthier way, but is still his quirky lovable self. The school he is now going to which is his 4th school in 3 years, has been so great with accomidating his individual needs as a child on the spectrum, I am so impressed with the things they have in place for him. he actually wants to make improvements withing himself in some areas at other schools he wouldn’t have cared, he is making friendships that are very important to him for the first time since daycare, when he has a melt down that scares the children in his class .. the staff there are amazing in explaining to the other students that my son sees the world diffferently and therefore reacts differently, they are encouraged to accept him for who he is as a whole, which is so important. The school he is going to is actaully a mainstream public school that has a special needs program set in place to help those with multiple catagoricle diagnosis. I can not say enough how impressed I am with what they are doing

Thank you for taking the time to read this post

beach bash-3Hi everyone,

Today has been totally AWESOME!!!! I went to Forster Beach Bash with my fitness class instructor for her birthday, and I am sooo glad I did it! It was a totally amazing experience that gave me a really good idea of how fit I have become. The course ran over 4km of Sand, grass and climbing rock steps. there was steep hills and lots of obstacles. just to get into the starting pit, we had to climb over a wall! the wall was the part I was most scared of doing as I wasn’t sure I would have the upper body strength to get throough it, but thankfully there was foot wedges, then as we were waiting for our turn to start, we were taken through some dance warm ups that really weren’t the best for warming up lol. we had obstacles like balance beams, over and under beams, rope climb which was a little scary, net crawl, getting through scaffolding, tyre pile, we had to jump over these massive inflated logs that were about as tall as I am, and the worst part was having to jump into skip bins filled with ice water! it was bad enough having to jump into the first one, but then to have to jump into a second one!!!!.. I came out of it with the bottom half of my body numb! most of the easier obstacles like the balance beam came up twice on the course, which wasn’t to bad, but when i noticed that there was another wall to get over before we could finish the course, I at least knew I could get over it!!! I strangely found that the actual terrain that the course was on was the hardest part, all the running up hill and through the sand was harder than any of the obstacles themselves. but in saying that, the part i disliked the most was the ice buckets, it was sooo cold! I was so glad that there was 2 water stops along the course, as with out them people may have been collapsing in the heat.beach bash-1

When I got to the finish line, the first thing I asked was “what’s the time” and to my surprise It had only taken me 40 miuntes to complete the whole thing! I ahd given myself 2 hours!!!!  considering I felt that i did the 4km course so well, I have decided that next year I will be doing the 7km course. Everyone who completed the course was handed a medal and a bottle of water, and got a free go at the 3 story water slide, which climbing up to have a go in itself felt like another obstacle in the course lol. I am so proud of myself for getting through it and not skipping any part of it, I really had no clue I was going to do so well. So if you ever have the thought to try something new, and not sure how you will go, give it a try anyway, you have more chance of pleasently surprising yourself then you do being dissapointed.

2013_0312Camera0100HI everyone,

Today I went for my second pt session out of 3 sessions I won at the YMCA. I won it by being the best bum shaker in the cardiopump class! the YMCA is having all sorts of festive days and giveaways over the Christmas period, and I have won vouchers twice now, the second one I won for dressing up for a Zumba class! That one was for a free session to bootcamp. So I decided today that because I have Fortser Beach Bash coming up on the weekend, that I should work on my upper body strength as there is going to be big walls I’m going to have to try to climb over. eeeek! well my pt decided to get me on the suspension ropes to do my work out.. and omg it was better then doing a bodypump class! I absolutely loved it! he had me doing things like holding onto the ropes, leaning forward and doing push ups that way, and the pike pushups .. omg that was hard! But I was really surpised at how well I did with the exercises he gave me as I was expecting to struggle a lot more than I did, considering I had already done 30 minuets on the rowing machine before hand! It gave me a bit of hope that I might actually be able to get through the 4km obstical course. This will be my first ever obstical course, and I’m really excited to be doing it. The main reason I actually decided to sign up for it, was it was my fitness class instructors idea of a good way to spend her birthday, with her class memebers doing an obstical course! Gotta love her!

bodycombat-combo-1Yay! Today is Tuesday! And that means I get to do my favorite fitness class at the local YMCA.. Bodycombat!

Bodycombat is an awesome mixed martial arts based, high intensity aerobics class. Not only do i get to have a great worok out, but I’m also getting to learn some moves from some other styles of martial arts. Now before you say anything, I am well aware that it’s different to actually learning an individaul martial art. But I have found that since I started going to the YMCA and doing all the fitness classes i do, especially Bodycombat, that My ninjutsu skills are improving a bit more. The intensity of the cardio aspect of this class is like nothing else I do, the first time I did the class I had to sit out, or I fear I may have upchucked. Every class, I pour sweat from every inch of my body, so I know i’m getting in a really good work out.

bodycombat-combo-2

Today our instructor ended the class a bit differently by adding in some calesthenics and weight training just to push our fitness levels that bit further, and I loved it! I will say, It was really hard to get through the whole track, but I love getting to push my body so that I’m constantly improving and getting better. there’s nothing better than the endorphin rush of doing a GOOD workout, don’t you agree? What’s the one exercise you can’t leave out of your wekly routien?

The instructor that teaches the class is awesome! She has the best personality for teaching fitness as she really motivates and pushes us to do our best. I always feel like I have done a really good workout whenever I do ANY of her classes. She totally rocks! the ab work out she does at the end of every class leaves me feeling like I’m actually doing something which is awesom! and the fact that she can even encourporate abs into an aqua aerobcs class is so cool! I’m going to start calling her the ab master of the YMCA I think lol I think the instructer that’s teaching the class can be the diffrence between a great class and an ok class.

Thanks for reading

HI everyone

We all know that Fiber is an important part of a healthy diet, but did you know that Fiber actaully KILLS FAT? That’s right! A diet high in fiber will help you melt away all that stubborn fat that you have been trying so hard to get rid of! Some of you may think that it’s a good idea to use fiber supplements like Metamucil to get your daily fiber intake, but I recently checked the ingredients of Metamucil, and to my disgust I found that it has Aspartame in it! Now if you don’t know what asaprtame is, it’s a poison that has some very nast effects to your body. Adverse reactions and side effects of aspartame include:

Eyeaspartame in metamucil

blindness in one or both eyes, decreased vision and/or other eye problems such as: blurring, bright flashes, squiggly lines, tunnel vision, decreased night vision, pain in one or both eyes, decreased tears, trouble with contact lenses, bulging eyes

Ear
tinnitus – ringing or buzzing sound, severe intolerance of noise, marked hearing impairment

Neurologic
epileptic seizures, headaches, migraines and (some severe), dizziness, unsteadiness, both confusion and memory loss, both severe drowsiness and sleepiness, aresthesia or numbness of the limbs, severe slurring of speech, severe hyperactivity and restless legs, atypical facial pain, severe tremors

Psychological/Psychiatric
severe depression, irritability, aggression, anxiety, personality changes, insomnia, phobias

Chest
palpitations, tachycardia, shortness of breath, recent high blood pressure

Gastrointestinal
nausea, diarrhea, sometimes with blood in stools, abdominal pain, pain when swallowing

Skin and Allergies
itching without a rash, lip and mouth reactions, hives, aggravated respiratory allergies such as asthma

Endocrine and Metabolic
loss of control of diabetes, menstrual changes, marked thinning or loss of hair, marked weight loss, gradual weight gain, aggravated low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), severe PMS

Other
frequency of voiding and burning during urination, excessive thirst, fluid retention, leg swelling, and bloating, increased susceptibility to infection

Additional Symptoms of Aspartame Toxicity include the most critical symptoms of all
death, irreversible brain damage, birth defects including mental retardation, peptic ulcers, aspartame addiction and increased craving for sweets, hyperactivity in children, severe depression, aggressive behavior, suicidal tendencies

Aspartame may trigger, mimic, or cause the following illnesses:
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Epstein-Barr, Post-Polio Syndrome, Lyme Disease, Grave’s DiseaseMeniere’s DiseaseAlzheimer’s Disease, ALS, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), EMS, Hypothyroidism, Mercury sensitivity from Amalgam fillings, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, non-Hodgkins, Lymphoma, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

These are not allergies or sensitivities, but diseases and disease syndromes. Aspartame poisoning is commonly misdiagnosed because aspartame symptoms mock textbook ‘disease’ symptoms, such as Grave’s Disease.

You really are better off getting your Fiber from your the foods you eat, but if you really need to use a supplement, i strongly suggest using Skinny Fiber as the fiber ingredient in it is Glaucomanon which is completely safe to use for those with IBS where as other fiber supplements are not. Skinny Fiber is an a amazing product that is jam packed full of enzymes and actually helps your body to function properly. it ahs many known healthe benefits with the added bonus of being a weight loss aid. If you would like to watch a video on what Skiiny Fiber is and why it works so well go here : http://slimmingdownwithrani.SBC90.com

2013_0104Camera0002In the meantime here is a list of the highest fiber foods:

Highest Fiber Vegetables

Avocado, Beans, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Carrot, Chick Peas/Garbanzo Beans, Eggplant, Greens — collards, kale, turnip greens, Lima beans, Mushrooms, Potato with skin, Pumpkin,, canned Peas — black-eyed peas, green peas, Peppers , Rhubarb, Spinach, Sweet Potatoes

* These high-fiber vegetables are also goitrogenic, meaning that they promote thyroid enlargement and can potentially cause or aggravate hypothyroidism. Typically, the risk is highest when these foods are consumed raw, regularly, and in substantial quantity. Cooking eliminates most goitrogenic properties.

Highest Fiber Fruits

Apples, Avocado, Bananas, Berries — Blueberies, Blackberries, Raspberries, etc., Dried Fruits — Figs, Raisins, Apricots, Dates, etc., Guava, Kiwi, Orange, Pears, Prunes

2013_0312Camera0049Hi everyone

Have you ever had one of those days where you wish you could just turn back the clock and start again? That’s what today has been like for me. I started off feeling really good and positive, like i could take on just about anything. but as the day went on, my house phone was broken, my kids decided it was going to be one of those days for them too, which meant lots of repeated questions in the hopes of getting the answer they want instead of the one that was given, and lots and lots of whinging,  not to mention the attitude and doing things they know they’re not supposed to be doing and I just started to notice my fuse getting shorter and shorter. I ended up playing the dad role more than the Mum role today when it came to the kids and I just felt like I was in a constant battle with them.

I spent most of the day working in my garden again trying to prepare the area for the native hedging plants that have eddible berries that I bought from http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/ that should be arriving soon. I managed to get all the tyres filled with a dirt mixture I made up of potting mix and saw dust and pulled aout a lot of weeds, which i found to be quite good for getting my frustrations out. Unfortunately though, I’m now covered in farmers friends. why do they get called friends? I don’t think anyone really likes them, including farmers. I mixed the potting mix and sawdust by hand, which i noticed was really good for strengthening my hands. Hopefully if I do it often enough, I might start to see a difference in my grip at Ninjutsu.

Before I knew it, it was dinner time and i realized I had nothing out defrosted ready to cook, 2013_0312Camera0025So i decided it was going to be a microwave dinner of pies for the kids and a pre-made frozen thai green curry for myself. I really need to do a big cook up of meals so i don;t keep having this problem lol. I decided that for desert we could spoil ourselves to some icecream, after all the day had been going bad enough, may as well try to end things on a good note. The kids loved it. and thankfully went down to bed fairly easily tonight (my youngest Mr H is still learning that bed time is bed time and sometimes tries to get back out of bed), and my mum rang and is going to buiy me a new house phone.

thanks for reading

2013_08180012Hi everyone,

I finally got to catch up on my sleep last night, which feels so GOOD! I have woken up feeling rested and happy, and I am able to think clearly again. Sleep is so important for a healthy mind and a healthy body, and I have had to learn this the hard way a few times in my life. I notice that when I give my body the rest it needs to repair and replenish itself, I just feel better, that and my weight loss seems to go more smoothly.

For optimal Health we are meant to have betwee 7-9 hours sleep each night, If you have a nights sleep that falls short of this, it’s very impotant to try and catch up on the missed sleep so that the body can do all the things to heal itself that it normally does while we sleep. when we fall short of sleep, that internal routien falls short, and our bodies pay the price. the other important thing about sleep, is this is the time that our subconcious is processing any stresses or troubles that may be going on in life, or even just helping us make the choices that we are not sure of what path to take.

2013_08070002

I have recently learened about lucid dreaming, this is where you are fully aware that your dreaming when in the dream state and being able to control what happens in the dreams, It’s a higher level of having control of ones own mind and the ability to recall the significant dreams. I have always been able to remember my most significant dreams in great detail, but since learning about lucid dreaming, I have started to become more aware of being in a dream state. I’m yet to master control over what happens in my dreams, but I do feel as though i am progressing nicely.

I once lived with this guy that was always having bad nights sleep, always woke up feeling tired, like he hadn’t slept at all! One day, I walked into my local doctor surgery where they were offering free sleep apnea tests, so I suggested it to him, I mean why not, it was free, it couldn’t hurt. Well he agreed to take the test. This involved having a machine with wires strapped to him along with the instructions on when to turn it on etc. he did as he was instructed, and had the device going all night, It turned out, I did him a big favor in suggesting it, as it was confirmed that he infact did have sleep apnea. What sleep apnea is, is a problem with the airways when in a deep sleep, the body forgets to breath, so you end up waking up all through the night from a lack of oxygen. so not only was he not getting enough sleep, he wasn’t getting enough oxygen to his body. I strongly suggest that if you too feel as if you can NEVER get a good nights sleep, get a sleep apnea test done, it could change your life for the better as there are things that can be done to help you get a better nights sleep.

Hope to see you all again soon

Rani

2013_0305Camera0028

Hi again,

Today I spent a lot of time working in my garden, and because I love to eat healthy, i have decided that only edible plants will be going into my garden. Unfortunately though, we had a really dry season here this year and a lot of the plants I had in the ground died, So I have a few things that I will need to replace. Today was spent just cleaning things up and getting rid of a lot of weeds.

Already in the ground and still growing, I have, Pepino Mellon, Young berry, Dragon Fruit cactus, Black Sapote, Mango, Sandpaper Fig, 3 different types of dwarf Apple trees, dwarf Nectarine, dwarf Lemonade Lemon, dwarf Lime, Quince and dwarf Maccadamia. and my Nectarine and Pink Lady Apple trees are fruiting along with the youngberry vine and Pepino bush!!! There’s nothing better than eating fruits that have come straight out of the garden.

The best part is the kids love getting involved in the garden, getting to collect and eat fruits that we have grown is really exciting for them. It really does make getting them to eat healthier so much easier.

I love to re-use, so My planters are things like old wheelburrows, fridges, freezrs, tyres and even washing machines. I use old bed bases to grow vines on also. They look really good after they have had a coat of paint, and darin really well once they have a few holes drilled into them. At least this way, the old broken items that people don’t want or need any more aren’t going into landfill and it saves me a fortune because I’m not having to buy pre-made garden beds.
